Finder View Default

Is there a way to set the default view in the finder? I like the one on the right, but it always defaults to the middle choice.

Did you check Finder preferences? I'm pretty sure that you can at least select column view as default, perhaps you can even select which view you want. I cannot verify this though because I'm not on my Mac at the moment.
