Hi,

I don't know if this is normal behaviour or not. Could someone help me?
If have a finder window open in Big Sur and shut down my Mac with it still open, when I restart the computer the finder window I was using reappears. I have the option 'close windows when quitting an app' ticked and I have unchecked the 'reopen windows when logging back in' box. All other apps and windows etc stay closed on the restart, it is only finder that does this.
If I close finder before shutting down it remains closed on re-start. This doesn't happen on my Mac running Catalina, only the one running Big Sur. Is this normal behaviour?

Many thanks

Hi! Yes, it's quite normal since OS remember your choice so if you close an app before restart/shutdown and keeps it open or closed after that.
Catalina should do the same, though. Are you sure you don't have a folder set to automatically start up? You can check it in "System Preferences->Users&Groups->Login Items"

Hi, yes I’ve checked the login items. Nothing there. It’s strange, it only does this for finder. I thought it would only keep it open if I had chosen it to do so?
