Is it me, or is Finder broken in Yosemite? Whenever I resize the window to my preferred size, eventually the window will be back to whatever Finder believes it should be. So it does stick for a little bit, and I have not yet figured out what could cause Finder to reset the window size again..

Anyone else experiencing this? Or is it just me...

This has been a bug since... 10.4? Maybe earlier. A really long time. Maybe Apple will fix it in the next decade or two.

Perhaps, but I have not seen this personally happen at least since 10.6. With Yosemite it appears to do this quite often ;-) Although, I just reset the window size to my preferred size again and relaunched Finder and it now appears to stick again.... Annoying!

I gave up on it years ago. It always works for a while, but then undoes itself randomly.

"Go to the Finder, select new finder window from the file menu, resize it how you like, then close it. Your resizing should stick for all subsequent new finder windows.

If you make any other changes (such as adding items, or using the window to browse to a new location) then it's no longer a "new finder window" and the resize change won't stick."
