How long is the current time from order to ship on a MBP? Apple Store says 7-10 days, but when I bought my MacPro it took over 2 weeks before it shipped. My classes started up again this week, and I didn't think I was going to have to purchase a laptop, but I was wrong.

I'm trying to find a 2.2ghz MBP, but after dealing with 3 apple stores in my area, they are almost impossible to find. Sunday I was going to pick one up, and decided to wait till after class on Monday to only find that they had sold their last one that day. I called all three stores the next day looking everywhere for a Glossy version, but could only find matte. Today I called again after I had settled on getting a matte version, but now there are no matte or glossy versions. Two stores aren't expecting any till atleast after 9/5, and one said they would get some this week. I'd like to believe them, but as much as I have been lied to on the phone about whats been in stock, and as much as I would like to believe they are getting some this week, I am getting tired of searching. These things are hard as crap to find!

Has anyone ordered one online lately? I was also a little weary about ordering online and having to return incase I ran into the yellow screen problem. Any advice?

It seems like they're increasingly hard to find... However, I think the best buy that I'm near has an assortment of MBs and MBP's. I don't think that all best buy have an apple portion... but it's worth a try. When the new MBP's came out in June I was pretty certain that I was going to get a Glossy screen but they only had Matte. I bought the matte screen because I didn't want to wait, and honestly I don't mind the matte screen at all. One other thing you can do is to call online vendors to see what their product situation is. That way you don't order one thinking you'll get it next week, when really you'll get it in a month or so... Good luck.

The problem was that I was planning on using my education discount on the laptop and for an iPod. Other stores don't offer the discount or the iPod special.

I've also been in the same confusion as you have been bld44 , i was planning to get a mbp 2.2ghz version , i think the online store could be very unreliable , i called up the san francisco apple store a few days back and they told me that the got shipment that day but very few 2.2ghz mbp's.. THAT TOO ONLY MATTE :( , i've got no other option , i'll get it if they are in store when my aunt goes there( she'll be visiting SF for 3 days) , else hav to wait for 2 more months when my cousin comes back( I am currently in India) .. i m waitin with crossed fingers..

i have a request for all guys and gals in SF , can anyone of u lookup in the apple store and confirm if they have stock?? i ll need this info on 5th , as my aunt ll be flyin into Sf on 6th...:apple:

Ain't that the truth... Well... Judging by what everyone else says... you'll be waiting a few weeks before it ships. There are 11 Apple stores in Texas though... depending how far you're willing to travel you could call them all. I don't know if apple will do this, but some stores have a system where if you ask they'll send you what they have as long as you get it at a store near by so they can verify you are who you say you are.

CompUSA states that they will honor the Edu. discounts, if you have one close.

I ordered my MBP 15" online on Aug. 22nd and it's not due to be delivered until Sept. 5th - 11th. So yeah; if you ordered today you're looking at 3 weeks before you get it. Hopefully! Unless you want a 17", they ship within 24hrs.

I guess I got lucky. I walked into the Apple Store 2 weeks ago and walked about with a MBP.

Where did you find this? We have one close, and that would work if they have some in stock. The CompUSA site shows no in stock for shipping or in-store pickup.

As for 11 apple stores in Texas, the 3 I have been dealing with are the two in Austin and one in San Antonio. All of the others (8) are in the Houston or Dallas area (~4hr drive) and I'm sure they're out of stock too.

Aye. Damn you Apple.

Anyone know a good email to contact Apple with? I'd love to send them a message expressing how much of a pain in the ass it has been for me to find one of their base laptops. I understand it's the time of year, but come on. They need to prepare better.

I had emailed asking if they did since my wife is a teacher. I assume this is for all CompUSA stores...just call first. Plus make sure they have the one you want.

I just bought a Macbook pro 17" off the apple site Fri the 24th, late, like 11pm or so.. It shipped out Mon and it looks like I will get it on the 31st.. Cant beat that.. :)

I wasn't going to call anymore this week, but did anyway. The apple store BC got 2 in so I asked them to hold one. Got home, and its got the yellowing issue.

Did you calibrate the screen? I think this yellowing issue is in your head becasue youve read the vocal negative minority on these forums...

There is no yellow..

Yes, but it didn't make any difference. There is definitely a difference between the white at the top of the screen and at the bottom.

I was in the same situation a while ago. i couldn't find a base MBP anywhere near me. All the apple stores told me they had no idea when they'd get them, and some of them haven't gotten them in a few weeks. I considered ordering it online, but it was a pretty long wait, so decided to keep calling and hope for the best.
Luckily, it only took 2 days of waiting. I called one store before they opened and asked. They only got 2 in. 1 glossy and 1 matte. Thankfully I wanted matte, since the glossy was reserved already, so I asked them to hold it. It just takes luck, and a little patience, but it was well worth it! Best of luck to you, and hope you can find one soon!

is it a samsung display? glossy? whats your spec? it seems to me everyone on here that gets a samsung is still getting the yellow bottom of screen issue, this is a joke imo

Week 34
15" 2.2ghz
Samsung matte.

Try recalibrating the screen dude.. hope the one i get dosent turn out to have a yellow screen  but urs doesnt look bad.. maybe u r been too particular about it?? try changing the color profiles...

Yours is matte? I thought only glossy screens had the yellow issue...

I assume you did all the firmware updates if it needed any?

edit: But after looking at your pictures you're screen doesn't look yellow...is it unevenly lit at all maybe? Just darker on top than on the bottom cause of the viewing angle?

That's after calibrating the profiles. It looked a lot worse before.

so r ya gonna get it replaced?? gosh .. i m eagerly waitin for mine!! gonna hope i dont end up with one havin a yellow screen :( i dunno if they ll replace it where i am !!

Well since none of my Apple stores near me have any, I was going to wait a week or so until they got some more in. Not sure if I'm going to bother taking it back at this point, since knowing my luck, I'd probably end up with another yellow one.
