Hello,

I recently jailbroke my iphone 3G S using redsn0w 0.8 and followed all the directions. When complete (i did the process twice due to the problem i had) everything went as per the instructions that i was following. Now cydia shows up in my ph0ne, but i dont seem to have sources (with one exception).

The main reason I jailbroke the thing was to get iblacklist, spoofapp, and categories-all of which when i go under featured apps, I am unable to download/install. Some other apps are there though. When i try the "search" function, all three of these apps fail to appear. Now i understand you can add sources and did watch a few tuts on youtube, but when i do it, it seems to be downloading for ever and ever with no end.

Everything else on the phone appears normal and is working perfectly.

Any suggestions what I am doing wrong?

have you gone to

Manager in cydia and install the essential recommended Repo sources? I pull them all up np Iblacklist is with Alpden Repo, Catigories, & spoofapp are both bigboss Btw the exact link and info are real easy to find though searching google or here and youtube just got there catigories cydia etc and you will find allot of video's. there is allot of info on these apps.

Well as helpful as that was I can't seem to identify the problem. I tunes is up to date, and the phone shows that it has the 3.0.1 firmware. Cydia shows up fine, and certain apps are available for download, but (of course) the three that I actually want, I am unable to access/download.

I tried downloading packages/sources but it seems to download (hang?) forever (I'm using wi-fi which is very fast for my region). It hangs on the black screen that says "Updating Sources" and "Downloading Packages" but never seems to end. I assume it shouldn't take hours to download a package....

Does anyone know the specific way to get these three apps to show up so i can install them?

Sounds like your Cydia install might be corrupt ?

If I were you, I would restore and re-JB.

As soon as you finish the JB, open Cydia, let it optimize, it will then close. Re-open it and let it do a complete upgrade.

Most of the sources you need should be there after that.

Hmmmm. I did two jailbreaks (full restore each time) and followed the instructions that I found with the entering DFU mode, etc. It seemed to work and said "finished" upon completion. I did not get any error messages throughout the process either.

Maybe I will attempt a third time, should I perhaps try the purplera1n method vs. the redsn0w method and just be content with 3.0?

As well, is it possible to uninstall cydia and reinstall it without going through the entire jailbreak process?

Thanks for the reply btw. :)

When re-JB, just install Cydia, not Icy. Some folks have had problems installing both.
