Hi, I have an iPad Air 4 and the finger print reader is more miss than hit for me. It works maybe 30% of the time and usually I need to put in the pin to unlock the iPad after I run out of attempts. I have noticed that in order to get it to work, I need to press the unlock button quite firmly and hold it there for a little while after pressing the button. But still, it doesn't work that well. Any tips on how to increase the probability of success?

Unless things changed you can record up to five fingerprints. Record the finger you typically use, multiple times.

If it fixes it, but eventually comes back, save the same fingerprint again.

This has worked for me in the past.

I tried this trick, but it didn't help in my case.
