Not sure if this is possible but it would be cool if their was an app that would only unlock using your finger print. this way i wouldn't have to put a password in every time.

does anyone know if this is possible? or if someone is working on it?

There's no fingerprint reader, unless you wanted some bulky attachment always with you instead of typing in a password

Actually there is a program which is able to do a simple fingerscan, with the unoriginal name Finger Scan. It costs 22 kr here in sweden which should be about 3$. But I don´t think you can do more than to play around with it, so it´s up to you if it´s worth it.

That is a fake application. It's been around for a while on Treo's and Palms etc.

The finger print isnt yours....it's a "novelty" security thing. Basically you pretend like you need to scan your finger print to unlock your phone....and when you show it to people and have them try it, they can't get in when they scan their finger...then you show them how YOU can get in when you scan yours - and its' because there's an additional button that needs to be pressed as you do the fake scan. I assume for iPhone, you hold the home button when you do the scan and every time it will unlock it with that combination no matter who does it. But the print that shows up is the same every time, just a picture of a finger print. It will show up wherever you press but that's about it. Totally fake.

iPhone is not capable of actually getting a finger print scan from touching the screen. That's way more intense than it seems....it's not sensitive enough to know where the exact ridges are.

Yeah you´re totally right. Sorry for posting such a stupid post, but I got my iPhone yesterday and since then I haven´t had much sleep. Have to have some excuse :p

If you stop and think about it it´s pretty obviously that the iPhone couldn´t handle fingerscanning, so you have to wait until next edition for that. (Well, probably not then either, but one could always hope, huh? :apple:)

I don't understand why you need a finger print scanner. Mine has a retinal scanner that can be programed to identify up to 10 different people (or 5 with both eyes) and works like a charm. This is much more accurate and convenient.
