seems like 10.2 broke the fingerprint scanner?
Working fine here (and more than likely for pretty much the vast majority since otherwise forums like this would be flooded with people discussing the issue back from when iOS 10.2 came out).

Seems like there might be something going on with your device. Have you tried restating? Disabling TouchID and re-enabling it and setting it up again? Perhaps resetting all settings? Maybe even reinstalling?

Which device are you currently using? I'm running beta in both my 7+ and 6s. I've encountered no difficulties with it.

Perhaps try the steps outlined by the above poster?

6s+. I really don't want to have to reinstall :/
it's so good it sometimes works when it shouldn't.
Mine was too until it all of a sudden stopped working today

Its possible that its just broken. Sometimes the Touch ID sensor can just stop working. Only thing to do (besides restoring as new) is go to Apple, or give them a call. But most likely, they will just restore your phone to rule that out.

I've had a few issues with mine mainly down to loads of dry skin, nicks and cuts on my fingers recently. Re-scanned my fingerprints and now working fine again. Certainly nothing to do with any software update breaking it...thats just a lazy assumption to make.

Unfortunately I dont believe its iOS that broke it. If you tried the other recommendations including reset all settings and re-enrolling prints I suspect its a hardware issue as well. Certainly a restore is not that hard esp if you use iTunes. It will do the entire process for you. But I am doubting that will help if you did the reset all already but worth a try before taking to Apple.

mine works fine for winter time when it doesn't work as well.

Have you tried adding a new fingerprint or replacing fingerprints. I used to find that I had to do that every once in a while

started working again today. I'll update in a few days to see if it gets buggy again

You have to clean the button all the time, right?? It happened on my 6s too. I barely touch the button and it gets all wet and smughy meanwhile my gf's brand new 6s works like a charm and the button leaves no prints or dirt.

1. delete the prints you have stored
2. clean the phone/home button
3. wash and dry fingers/thumb
4. register print

works ok here too..

Try delete and re-training finger(s).. This would be first step. As pointed out, TouchID doesn't work well for wet hands. but i doubt its hardware fault it it worked before.
It re-training doesn't work, then resetore in iTunes.. (backup first) "Set up as new device"

You do understand how many devices would be affected if that was actually the case right? It would make the Note 7 battery issue look like a reliable product. Pretty clear you have a contamination issue, something retraining a fingerprint or two would solve, or a hardware problem with <your> sensor.

I have been experiencing slower-than-usual* Touch ID performance since installing iOS 10.2 on my 6S. I was used to it working instantly and had gotten used to the too-fast thing that people once complained about. But it is noticeably slower and less reliable since 10.2. I've deleted and re-added my fingerprints. It's not so bad that I'd call it a problem, but I do notice that it's slower.

The views expressed in this post are in no way meant to imply that others have experienced a similar issue or are in any way meant to suggest that Apple and/or Tim Cook or the ghost of Steve Jobs are anything but perfect.

*Slower-than-usual claim based on this user's personal experience

I've been hav issues with Touch ID on both my iPad Pro 9.7 and 7 plus. This issue was present on iOS 10.2 and still there on 10.2.1. I've tried deleting the finger prints, cleaning the device and washing my hands and redoing the prints. The Touch ID doesn't always recognize the finger and I have to scan it multiple times. I've also tried restoring my devices and it hasn't fixed the issue. I'm pretty sure this is just a software issue affecting some users.

actually, i noticed it as well.
after the update it definitely is not accepting as many of the kinds of indirect, or, less than straight-on on types of presses, as it did before.
