Sometimes when I type into the cmd + space Spotlight and begin to type, let's say, "Term" for Terminal, it'll properly highlight Terminal and I can just press enter to launch.

Other times, it'll briefly flash Terminal and then everything goes blank. Even when I type out the full word, everything still remains blank.

Very frustrating as it seems to be only on this latest iteration of Yosemite. This little bug did not exist on any previous version.

Anyone else?

Yup, another feature of Yosemite, maybe you will get lucky when 10.10.2 ships
