Apple TV Firecore 1.7 update and Plex

Just a word of warning for anyone running Firecore on their aTV2 - the latest update (1.7) doesn't like Plex and removes it from the main menu and maintenance option.

Apparently a Plex issue, but if that's how you use the aTV then don't update to 1.7. Waiting to hear if you can just reinstall 1.5 or 1.6 or if I will need to jailbreak again as I want Plex back

Just tried running Plex on my iMac and then using AirPlay in 10.8 GM to stream to the aTV and it works really well!

Now if only I could remote control the iMac in the office from the living room I could just get an aTV3 and make a quick killing on the aTV2

the iOS app has a remote, i think the android version does too.

if the rooms are close enough, look at remote buddy and a wii-mote. it works over bluetooth, so about 30 feet with as few walls a possible would be ideal.

When doing this, do you get Dolby Digital and/or DTS 5.1 surround sound? I've not been able to find out whether AirPlay in Mountain Lion will support Dolby/DTS.

To me, 5.1 is as important as picture quality.

It took me a little while just to get the sound distributed to the aTV but have no idea if it's DD5.1 or DTS as I don't have a receiver at the minute. Sorry.

Will have a look at the remote options, but I can't see how any will be as slick as Plex running on my aTV2, when it works!

Thanks...I guess I will need to wait until ML is released and check for myself. My hope is that ML and AirPlay will alleviate the jailbreaking need.

Firecore team have pulled out all the stops and an update to 1.7 and Plex has everything working again.

aTV - Plex is pointless. Don't know why Apple don't allow this stuff and shift a load more units? Id upgrade to aTV3 in a flash for 1080p if I could install Plex
