Apple TV Firecore

Im reading a lot of mixed reviews about wether purchasing firecore is worth it. A lot of the people saying yes would argure that there media player is so much more usefull than a nightly of xbmc and those opposing say nearly all of its software can be instaled for free.
My reason for posting is that i would like your opinion on the software. I already have my tv2 jailbroken with xbmc installed on 4.4.4 incase that effects your response thanks in advance for opinions

In my opinion, what makes firecore worth it is the simple installation process. If you have already installed xbmc, then, in my opinion, you probably don't need firecore. I'll admit though that I haven't used it much yet and I haven't tried xbmc at all, so I'm in no position to compare these to each other.

Personally I probably wouldn't have any problems installing stuff like xbmc myself, but I purchased aTV flash to support it, and I quite like the product. They recently provided pod2g an Apple TV 2 to help with creating an untethered jailbreak for Apple TV 4.4.3 which apparently should be released in not to long.

I bought the Firecore product, and tried it out. I ended up asking for a refund. I thought the ability to play AVI and MKV files was nice, but the stability issues I had caused me to un-install, and restore my aTV.

It is nice that they have a 15 day return policy, so it gives you a decent amount of time to try it out and see if it is for you.

Was the refund trouble free? Mine works great, so I've no need for a refund, but it would be easier to recommend to friends knowing that it is easy to get a refund.

Also potential purchasers should be aware that when you buy it you only get updates for 1-year. You can buy an unlimited subscription, but can't remember how much that cost.

This was last week when I asked for the refund. It was very easy and straight forward. I found the link on their site, filled out the form, and it was back in my paypal account in 2 days.

Firecore is not a bad product, it just didn't fit my needs. I would still let friends know about it, and let them try it out though.

I've messed around with Firecore quite a bit today and I have to say that I prefer Media Player in firecore compared to both Plex and xbmc. Plex needs a server which means I need an additional computer running and I got annoyed by how often it wants to use transcoding rather than direct play. I have a readyNAS, but it is not nearly fast enough to transcode. XBMC was just to fidly for me. Firecore media player worked great though. It looks like the rest of the apple tv system and supports a great number of formats (no transcoding needed here ) and works great with my readyNAS. I haven't personally experienced any instability. I spent the day watching a couple of films, both with and without subtitles. Buffering time was quick, fast forward and backwards worked well and it read the chapters, something I haven't been able to get Plex to do. It collected metadata considerably faster than Plex has ever done on any of my computers. I'm not very pleased with how it displays TV shows though. This is something Plex does much better.

I think it depends what you want to do. I wanted XMBC to use "play on" through XBMC. All of my content on my computer is in iTunes. I found out after paying that you don't really need the ATV flash from fire core to do this. I am in 4.4 and then found out you have to use the nightly xbmc not the fully supported XBMC that comes in the ATV flash for 4.3 devices. So its a refund for me.

I uninstalled XBMC and installed aTV Black. It's cleaner, simpler, works great. It feels like it's part of the main menu, not buried.

Can you explain why its better before I do a refund? Are you using the nightly XBMC for the atv black? I assume your on 4.4 cuz if your on 4.3 its not a real comparison. I really want this for accessing play on not playing other file types. Would love to hear what you have going on. Thanks.

Ok so i choose not to purchase installed xbmc and a few other cheeky apps happy days glad i didnt pay now

I have both xmbc and firecore.

I like the firecore media player MUCH better then the xbmc one. Its clean, has played almost every format I tried, fits into appletv gui and works very well with rev/fwd with minimal buffering.
Picture viewer is also better then xbmc.

I now only use xbmc for icefilms, and other custom channels I have. But for all content that I store on my NAS I use firecore.

Firecore just tweeted that a new version of seas0npass with support for the latest Apple TV software will be available soon.
