Recently safari has been been giving me the beachball too much, also when pages have been loading, I hear a noise (not sure if its from the processor or the hd) but it got a bit annoying as my Imac is only a few weeks old...

Enter firefox 3, downloaded this morning, been using it pretty much all day and I can say that I have not seen the beachball once and I have not heard the noise I mentioned above at all...

The speed of Firefox 3 is just as fast (if not faster) than safari and the best thing is you can even make it look like safari with this plugin..

https://addons.mozilla.org/en-US/firefox/addon/6704

For me the only downside at the moment is I cant right click a word and open it in dictionary... (There might be more downsides later) But for now, it looks like firefox 3 will be my default browser till safari gets improved in the next update...

Thanks P........

For some reason, while holding the scroll bar and going up/down, the page kind of gets distorted (flickers) where a horizontal line kind of freqency band goes my screen  This was not there in FF 2  I have both versions now and FF2 performs better!

It sounds like you dont actually have FF3...because it comes standard looking like safari in FF3 on a mac...if you downloaded it from mozilla yesterday there was a point were FF3 wasnt released yet, but the download for FF2 said it was 3....unistall it and redownload...then see how it runs.

I don't think FF3 looks much like Safari. It's better than FF2, but the toolbar icons look like those pill buttons in Mail.app. That theme makes it looks much more closer to Safari and they even put the "x" on the tabs on the left side.
