In your head.
Do not delete Safari.

Selected a file that you want Firefox to be the default application to open.
Context click--> Get Info -> Open With> Select application> click "Change All"

I am looking for where the global assoations for all file extensions are stored and edited.

I think iSaint's method is better, because Safari and FF handle multiple file formats, and I'm not sure this will catch all of them. Also, I'm not sure that this will trigger links launched from Mail.app, etc, to go to FF. The way that involves the Safari prefs will catch almost everything.

You have to select that preference from Safari Preferences...believe it or not. You can also change your default mail preferences there.

I was slow trying to remember that the setting is now in Safari.

Safari-->Prefrences->General>Should show FireFox.

[Edit] and I should read also.

Dual Mode

I use both FireFox and Safari as my Interenet Browers...

After installing FireFox, I opted to put it on my dock, so when I want FireFox, I click on it. Click on Safari when I wanna use that.

I use command "h" to hide browser(s) I'm not using...

Hope this helps!
