Just found something bizarre in my dock-a large black question mark inside the firefox icon...and now firefox refuses to run! Very strange-any thoughts?

Your computer has contracted a terminal virus. Unfortunately, there is absolutely nothing you can do other than get a new computer, as this virus has by now contaminated not only your entire hard drive, but also your BIOS and every website you visist, and will redownload itself to your specific system. In simpler terms: you need to get a new computer.

As long as youre going to be throwing that one out.. Mail it to me and I will... Recycle it.

Somehow firefox got deleted from where ever your alias is to it. If it's in your application folder then drag the icon off your dock it will "poof" away. Drag the Firefox application from your Applications folder to your dock and it will make an alias.

If it's truly gone just download the app and place it in your applications folder. And follow the instructions form the first paragraph.

macboyx...THANKS a bunch! you were right...i guess it's just a bug in an on-going firefox beta project?!

Which version are you running? The nightly built ones? Those are great, but can be very buggy at times.

I have no idea...the latest version I suppose...what are the 'nightly built ones'?
