As far as I know there are no updaters for Firefox (or most browsers for that matter). So, if you have dialup, you will have to trudge through the download. The update is really easy, though. The disk image opens up and you replace the application in your applications folder with the new one. Since bookmarks etc. are actually stored in your home folder, there is no need to worry about losing anything.

In terms of whether or not the update is worth it, here is my opinion. Of all software, internet browsers are the most important to keep updated for security reason and for the reason that the internet is always changing and if you don't update, you may not be able to keep up with pages. I also know that Firefox recently added some awesome customization stuff in one of their new releases (not sure which one) which lets you with a couple clicks give your software a new look or more functionality.

IMO, every Firefox update is just as good as the one before it. Go for it, and upgrade, it's better. Goto firefox.com, and it should be on the front page.

In order to update just go to http://www.getfirefox.com and download the newest version, then drag the firefox icon into the application folder again, it then should ask you if you want to replace the old version click "replace" and VOILA firefox is updated all your bookmarks, themes etc will stay the same only you will have the new version,

ShadOW ;)

Personally though i'd forget firefox and check out:http://www.caminobrowser.org/

The only things you will lose, if you have them, when updating Firefox, are:

- Any extensions that are not compatible will be disabled until a new version is out (but if there is a new version, it will download it and re-enable).

- If you changed the Dock Icon for FF, you will have to copy it over again

- If you added search plugins to the search bar, you will either have to manually copy them out of the old FF directory and into the new one, or re-install them.

Of these, only the last, if it applies, is really a nuisance. If you look in the package contents, they're in firefox.app/contents/macos/searchplugins -- you can copy all of the contents of this folder to a new folder, and then put it back in once you put in the new FF. If you want to get fancy, you can re-locate them, and then put in a symbolic link, I guess.

I have no idea why these are in the app folder and not elsewhere. Perhaps it has something to do with executable code? In any event, it's the biggest upgrade nuisance with FF.
