Might wind up with a spare W8100 and wondered if this would work in my Mac Pro 2009 (flashed to 5,1)?
If so, plug and play or have to tweak files?
Thanks.

This will not work out of the box as the PCI ID 67A11002 (Firepro W8100) is not present in any AMD* Controller kext.
You could try adding this PCI ID to Hawaii Kexts string tags and see if it works, as the card seems somewhat related to a r9 290x.
Look for 0x67B01002 (R9 290X ID) in those files and add 0x67A11002
/System/Library/Extensions/AMD8000Controller.kext/Contents/Info.plist
/System/Library/Extensions/AMDRadeonX4000.kext/Contents/Info.plist
You can follow this guide as a tempate for editing kexts: https://www.theitsage.com/install-radeon-rx-480-gpu-macos-sierra/
The FirePro W8100 PCI ID is 0x67A11002. Not sure where you are getting your PCI ID info from, but you're most likely reading something incorrectly.A bit of a delay, but I finally got around to trying the W8100, and I put it in (along with an old nVidia stock card) and the PCI ID is 0x67a10000, not 1002...would I put the 0000 or the 1002 in the kext's?
Thanks.

You’re reading the Revision ID. The “0x1002” is under the Vendor tag.I put the card in the Mac Pro along with a usable card, then using the About this Mac, System Report, Graphics cards, it shows 2, and it said 0x67A1 and 0x0000 for the W8100 card. There was no "1002" anywhere in the info for the W8100.
