Yes, 6 pin. All Apple laptops have 6 pin, none have 4.
Wow, ouch. It's getting late for me, time for bed!Isn't the second Firewire on the mbp 4 pin? It doesn't look to be 6 pin.

Well, I've had 7.5 hours of reading Intellectual Property for law school tonight...I can't even see straightI'll say. It's midnight, and you're here on MR! I guess it shows just how much we love this place (although I'm not doing as badly; Pacific Time and all). No biggie though, we all have our moments

Isn't FireWire 800 8 pin?
I was refering to the FireWire 400.
On the MBP:
Firewire 400 is 6-pin
Firewire 800 is 9-pin
On most other laptops, the Firewire 400 is 4-pin, which is the data pins only. No power is provided on a 4-pin Firewire 400 port.

The third new pin is unused (the 1394b committee decided to use a preexisting cable technology and didn't want to force cable makers to tool up for eight conductor cables and connectors)
Are you sure it's 6-pin? I swear it looks like a 4-pin. Whatever, the point is that the macbook uses a 6-pin.
It's true the Firewire 800 port is 9-pin, but you'll be surprised there's an unused pin in it.
umm, they dont look anything alike
