Just wondering, on the Apple Cinema Displays -- I know they have 2 USB 2.0 ports, and 2 Firewire 400's, do these then have to be connected into the Tower somehow?

What I mean is - Im considering buying a Cinema Display - but Im already short on USB and Firewire - do i just gain these ports? with their signals traveling down the main Display cable or do i have to daiseychain / plug extra wires from the G5 Tower into the Display to use these ports?

The end of the acd's cable splits off into a usb, firewire, dvi, and a power cable.
The display has a hub built in so you will gain 1fw and 1usb port

Laser47 is correct, you gain only one of each port. Unfortunately, I've found that certain USB devices aren't quite as "alive" when plugged into the Cinema Display ports as when they're plugged directly into the computer. (Example: EyeTV USB 2.0) Sometimes they work, sometimes they don't.
