I mean for well every apple mobile product, they borked jailbreaking it seams and borked wifi at the same time, and no its not my router etc it did it yesterday at a hospital. Then again why am i even posting apple only cares about the ipad and newer now so nm

Got troll? Feel better?
Perhaps YOUR device has a defective wifi antenna. There is not a large outcry about mass wifi failure in Apple products. In fact, Apple does wifi fairly well. So before you go ranting with inflammatory language or unfounded, blanket statements, work the problem, do some research, root out your problem, and get it fixed.

4 of them do? even a ipod touch 2g? btw not trolling or anything i just think like right now syncing an ipod and dj feature that is pumped won't let me click out of it. This problem started when they aimmed to bork jailbreaking, seen it posted on the forums too. So saying my problems are basicly my problems and that apples recent update had nothing to do with it? Yea ok i know what side you're on just by that. If you can explain how 4 iproducts just got borked by the update ill give in and say its every single one of the 4.

Btw language or unfounded blanket statements i can see statements but the rest please. I one don't flame or e-thug, two i don't cuss... Oh yea as for the last part i've been doing research since this problem started the whole i was at a hospital part was to point out it happens everywhere, it did it on two iproducts so please quit flaming, and know what you're talking about...

Oh yea the apple only cares about newer products was about this, i called apple about it and also owning two nanos. One i dont own two nanos two i got the well just reset your ipod. I tell them its 4 the guy is confused as a monkey and sends me an email on howto reset your ipod. Then i get another one on rating his service i can send you the emails if you'd like but they do you no good since you know how to reset an ipod / iphone... Also they still have me down as owning two nanos and about 15 ipods? Nice fix

1) Providing adequate background of your history (i.e. you never mentioned your 4 products in your OP).
2) Re-read your initial post. It comes across as a rant.
3) If you "seen it posted on the forums too" it is far better to contribute to an existing forum thread than start a new one.
4) A bit of constructive criticism: brush up on the English skills. The way in which you express yourself undercuts your arguments.

One, i'm not going to bump a 4 month old thread, two ranting maybe but right now don't i have the right to rant being just two 3g branded products going haywire? All i was asking is do you think a new firmware will be coming out but i guess that was too hard to answer and you just started flaming ok. :) You took it as another i want my upgraded jailbreak thread it seems. You could have asked what i've done or i dunno not flame? As for 4 yes my english skills need a bit of work but i'm working on that thanks for pointing that out.

But for expressing myself as mad and wanting it fixxed? I called apple, they did nothing. I was asking a question ranting or not that still does not give you the right to basicly troll and flame or does it or attack me. If you want to attack someone goto one of the i got a new 3gs and want it jailbroken so i can get illegal apps for the most part threads.

1) researched
2) troubleshooted "yes i know how todo that" oh yea old firmware on an old ipod touch 1st gen doesn't drop
3) called apple after so many months of wifi dropping out.
4) got a reset the device email, so that was no help
5) came here got flamed
6)i'm done no need for you to post any more flames or attacks. It's clear i'm not going to get a well they probably will upgrade it soon or the 4.0 is coming june/july standard answer from you or anyone here judging by this attack.

So now go on flame me more i don't care this will be the last time i ever come to this site, i thought it was great but it seems you've ruined that for me. To add to that i thought e-thugs played mostly games but i guess they troll too.

Thank you

3.1.3 fixed WiFi issues for me. 2 3GSes and 1 2G and none have WiFi problems at all, rock solid.

You also will not see 3.2 on the iPhone. Unless a serious security issue is found, I think 3.x is done at 3.1.3.

Simple question. I only read the OP, since I got tired of reading the back and forth "discussion" after that. Do your products work away fro
home? If so, might be a router setting. For one thing, the iPhone doesn't like auto changing b/g/n. Set it to g.

Nice one Aggie!

Sometimes Technical people forget to look at some of the basic issues and miss vital parts of simple fault finding. 9 times out of ten the fault will be something simple!

Ok, i'll give this a try.

1) It seems to be more of the i* keeping the assigned wep/wpa2-psk signiture/handshake
2) If it's an open network it wont flake out as much. I've tested this at alot of places.
3) 4 laptops using wifi off and on for long periods of time on that same router no problems but for when the modem acts up.
4) mostly flakes out in the mail app. I haven't figured this part out really, but it is not the only place it does it. Sometimes other apps on different models etc.
5) Whole reason i think it's the newest firmware is because it all started after the upgrade and i used blackra1n for fun one day on a water damaged 1gen 8gb ipod touch. Wifi works great on it even if the battery life isn't great.
6) only thing that will fix any of the devices is doing a toggle or even a reboot sometimes.

So unless maybe the 4 models i know about are flaking out on every type of wifi networks wep/wpa/wpa2-psk i really don't know. In all my years of trouble shooting things i've never seen anything like this. That is why i was asking if a new firmware might be released because you guys seem to know.

Then i get called a troll etc for yea i guess i was ranting. I really don't see why the whole learn how to write comments come into play just because of things that happened in my past by the way. So keep that stuff out of this please. As for the wifi threads like i said 4 or so months ago a few got posted and i do believe the rules say no bumping threads? Maybe i'm wrong.

I've talked to apple, tested networks and different settings, i even went as far as to thinking about buying a new $150 router. I went against that because of the issues on open networks such as hospitals, friends, and just to throw it out mc-d's.

So back to the question do you think a new minor firmware will be coming out soon? I know 4.0 won't hit till june/july if the past has told us anything. But please keep the learn to write comments out of this i know i cant write. You don't need to tell me that over and over or flame me because i'm at the end of my rope... If any of what i wrote is confusing just say so also i can probably explain it better or more in depth.

Oh yes congrats on no more boot camping for steam, i hope you guys enjoy it and can get into the beta if your are wanting to.

We seriously don't know if there's going to be a new firmware. I'd guess not and that the next will be 4.0 for the new iPhone in June/July as usual.

As far as your router goes, since it does sound like a home issue, the main thing is you need to set the router for b or g (I chose g, since it's faster). The iPhone won't work on n and it seems to have trouble with a variable network that changes from b to g, as needed. So, try that for one thing. I also used iStumbler to see the devices in my neighborhood and found a lot on Channel 6. So, I changed to 8. After all that my drops stopped.

I know this may not necessarily make you feel any better, but may just confirm that the firmware upgrade hasn't affected everyone. I have a 1st Gen and a 3G, my daughter has an iPod Touch. All three work well on my wireless network here at home. Both of the iPhones are on 3.1.3, I can't remember about her iPod Touch.

I have a Linksys WRT160N router with Comcast broadband internet. I have the latest firmware on the router, security is set to WPA2-personal. I have never had any difficulty with the iPhones, the iPod or my 2 laptops connecting to the router. I've always been able to connect at the local Starbucks and at the University where I was a student last year.

I'm not sure what the issue may be with your devices, but I find it unusual that a total of 4 of them would have an issue in the manner they are. My thoughts would make me diagnose the router first, to ensure everything was good with it. The majority of issues I've read about concerning wireless have fallen back on an issue with the router.

Good luck in trying to get yours working.

I thought it was blacksn0w that caused wifi issues... I may be wrong

What I said was "the one that is jail broken works great no problems". The jail broken ipod touch I was talking about I only use to compare things. 2.1.3 just does not want to work with my g router. Every other wifi device works fine even the 1st gen touch with blackra1n.

I take back what i said about public networks, they seem to work more, they only drop about 25% of the time as for private 70% and above i would say.

There's nothing wrong with WiFi.

And, why did you update to 3.1.3? Nobody else did. Not I, not even Steve Jobs. Just felt the need to click that button?

FWIW, there are posts on the Apple support forums about WiFi issues. It all seemed to start with an update a couple of revisions ago.

My iPod touch loses its WiFi connection every time it goes to sleep. Like others who have posted at Apple, after I wake it, I have to bring up Settings - WiFi and then the comms come back. Bit of a pain.

Kitchen Windows Vista computer = also loses WiFi during sleep. Real pain.

MacBook = no problem, works every time.

What's weird about the iPhone OS, is that everyone seems to get different results from an update. :)

This is a harddware "issue" on every iPhone ever sold. Its very noticeable on the 2G, a little less so on the 3G, and even less on the 3GS.

There is not one iPhone anywhere who's wifi does not go to sleep when not in use.
