Hey guys,

I'm soon to be purchasing an iPhone, but I have a query concerning firmware updates and such; it's possible that I may be going abroad later in the year for some time, and I would like to know whether iPhone can receive firmware updates without being docked to the associated computer or whether it can receive the update so long as it is connected to a LAN?

I appreciate any feedback you have.

Firmware updates are done through iTunes, you will need iTunes + Internet to do a firmware update.

But, you can do it from any computer.. You won't lose your data, and you won't be forced to sync to that computer.
