Just got off the phone with Apple Support and they're replacing my new ATV 4K. I've had the regular ATV for 5+ years and have been waiting for the refresh of the 4K to upgrade. Got it on Friday and it worked great over the weekend. I noticed that Dolby Vision wasn't working when I tried to enable it. Turns out, my HDMI cable was still a 1.4. I bought a new HDMI cable (Monoprice 2.1) and hooked it up Sunday. Dolby Vision now worked. We watched shows last night, today and tonight. Tonight, we were watching "Them" on Amazon Prime. 2nd episode finished and I clicked the Home button to exit. Screen went black. Only the Dolby Vision logo appeared in the top right for a couple seconds. After it went away, black screen, but could still hear the OS audio beeps. Unplug, still nothing...black screen (again, after the Dolby Vision logo appearing for a few seconds). Unplug again, Dolby Vision logo followed by a flickering red screen. Unplug again, Dolby Vision logo followed by vertical bands of alternating shades of green.

Ugh. I'm worried about enabling Dolby Vision on the next ATV cause if it goes bad, there doesn't seem to be a way to disable it since I can't see the menu. I only have the one HDMI 2.0+ cable, so I don't have another one of those to try.

Anybody else had a similar issue with the new or previous ATV 4k?

If you have problems again, try holding down the menu button and the tv screen button at the same time for 6 seconds. That will reboot the Apple TV. It will work even if the screen is black. You will know it worked when you see the light on the Apple TV blinking.

I did that as well. Same result as rebooting. Also, left ATV unplugged all night. Still same thing this morning.
