gotta go with samsung on this one but you never know. Sony looks like it's closing in but I'm not sure they have enough market share in US.

LG. They were first with the S4 pro with the Optimus G and second with the s600 in the G pro. And the G2 is just around the corner. LG may not be anyone's favorite brand but this is my guess. Unless Samsung announces the Note 3 before the G2 my money is on LG.

I hope so. G2 looks sick and if it's first to market thats what im getting for sure. As long as they don't gimp storage to 16gb like samsung with the s4.

Considering the only device formally announced for release (Q3) that is confirmed to have the Snapdragon 800 is the Sony Xperia Z Ultra, I'm guessing Sony. Everything else, including the LG Optimus G2, are still rumors/speculation so far.

Samsung is not expected to bring their S800 S4 to the states until the end of the year. So it will probably be either Sony or LG.

I am looking forward to the LG G2. I am hoping they took the criticism of the Nexus 4 and decided to put a bigger battery in their new flagship.

I'm looking forward to it too. I've got the OG and it's a vastly underrated phone. In fact, it's the fastest phone I've used and that's saying something considering how many I've had over the last year. Add to that it gets great battery life and has SD support and it's a joy to use. I definitely agree on the bigger battery, though. That's always a welcome feature.

Any reason why you get great battery life when people with Nexus 4s (same hardware) get awful battery life? You'd think it would be the other way around since the Nexus 4 runs stock 4.2.2...

I've often wondered that myself, and I have no clue. I'm just running stock rooted Jellybean and I can routinely get 5 hours screen on time. All I know is I get outstanding battery life (which was honestly a surprise to me).

Because with Nexus 4, you get what you pay for. Sure you get a glass back, a quad core CPU, and screaming performance, but the rest of the package is going to suck to keep the $350 price point.

A $600 phone is going to do better in battery life.

LG probably. They were first with the S4 Pro last year. Too bad it launched with outdated software, and was an overall mediocre device.

I voted LG. I can see them shipping a G2 with the SD 800. But what I am more intrigued if the Nexus 5 will be SD800/5" screen device.

Hey you really did your research. Oh wait...

The Nexus 4 and Optimus G use the exact same components as the Nexus 4 was built off the Optimus G. They use the exact same CPU, exact same screen, have the exact same memory, and have the exact same battery. It doesn't explain the difference in battery life. In fact, since the Optimus G officially supports LTE and the Nexus 4 doesn't and the Nexus 4 runs a slimmer stock version of Android, it would actually make sense for the Nexus 4 to get better battery life, not worse.

As for price, it is widely known that the Nexus 4 is a ~$500-$600 device that is being subsidized by Google.

Maybe you should do a little research before posting a completely useless comment.

I'm thinking it might have something to do with LG running their own skin which is optimized to run on their own hardware that makes up the battery difference.

My only reservation with LG phones is that they only support dual band 3G. Unlike other makes that have included quadband GSM and UMTS radios in their phones.

I usually do a bit of travelling to Australia and they have 850 Hz 3G networks.

lol, the same CPU and same LTE chip doesn't mean it uses the same signal amplifier, signal filter for wifi or cellular data. The chipset is only half the story mate.

I guessed Sony with the announcement of their new phablet. I'm waiting on the Note 3 though.

Except for the fact that both are built around all the exact same components. Why else do you there was a left over LTE chip? It is the exact same hardware with a different outer casing. Go research it mate ;)

There are no iFixit teardowns of Optimus G to compare all the chipsets side by side so i doubt this claim can be made as 100% correct, unless you can show me one where all the chips like UMTS amplifiers etc from BOTH are listed...

The thing is, the Nexus 4 was never meant to support LTE. It is clearly based on the Optimus G. The fact that the Nexus 4 has this tells you that the Nexus 4 wasn't just built from scratch bringing together similar components. They are likely using the exact same logic board with all of the same components, including CPU, RAM, amplifiers, screen, and even the exact same battery.

If you are to go about building a smartphone that you know will be based on another phone, you have two options. You can either price out similar components and redesign the logic board and how it all fits together and go through various testing stages to get everything working properly. Or you can just use the exact same logic board with all the included chips and amplifiers and eliminate the costly testing and designing phase. Considering Google's desire to keep the cost as low as possible, this is clearly the more likely option.

Not to mention the fact that there are hacks to turn an Optimus G into a Nexus 4. And I'm not just talking about flashing a stock ROM.

Really, the LTE chip is the biggest piece of evidence. Why include it if you are just bringing together a bunch of components separately and redesigning the logic board? You wouldn't. The only explanation for including it is because it is the same logic board that goes with the Optimus G. That is why all reviewers say they feel so similar. Speaker placement is the same, camera placement is the same, ear piece placement is the same. Everything besides the outter casing is the same.

There is so much evidence to show that they are built on the same components and that the only differences are on the outside. All you have to do is use a little logic and think it through. But if you insist that they are built with major internal differences, please show some evidence. Because logically and practically for all companies involved, what you are saying makes no sense.

Bingo. If they were identical, they would support the same LTE bands.

That doesn't mean they are exactly the same. If they are the same, then why does the Optimus G support AT&T LTE, but the Nexus 4 doesn't?

It's hilarious how defensive you are of the Nexus 4.

I've owned both. The Optimus G is a better optimized phone with longer battery life. The Nexus 4 is a mediocre device at best and deserves its wal-mart-like price tag.

Why does the Nexus 4 have a left over LTE chip it doesn't officially support if it isn't from the device its based on?

It hilarious you resort to dismissing the Nexus 4 based on price alone to make yourself feel better.

News flash, having a more expensive phone doesn't make you a better person.

Yeah, it supports TMo's LTE bands. That's not what I was talking about. If they were exactly the same as you claim, where is there no official LTE support for any carrier or more specifically AT&T LTE support that the Optimus G has? Why is there no SD card?

You have zero evidence to support your case. There's a reason why the Nexus 4 is so cheap. It's a mediocre device that deserves every bit of its price tag. Poor screen, poor camera, RF performance and battery life. If it makes you feel better that you spent so little on it, then good for you. For the rest of us, there's a Samsung Galaxy S3 that costs about the same and is a much better device.
