First complaint: Photo Booth PLUS weird sound

Ok, here's my first *gasp* complain about my Mac.

I love it, it's FANTASTIC, but, I can't get the background drops to work in Photo Booth, I step out of the frame, go back in when it prompts me to and it's all fuzzy/screwy. I don't have a moving background either.

On a less happy note, I got a hang at startup just a few minutes ago, heard this loud weird whirring sound, then the question mark popped up. I'm still shaking as I type this, so after looking into it, I zapped my PRAM and everything's peachy again; what a scare though.

Just put it to sleep again and heard that whirring sound when resumed, what is it?

Can you be more specific? What sound? Is it coming from the speakers or are you hearing the fans? Are you getting any error messages?

It could be a fan revving up, your optical drive regaining power, or your hard drive spinning up.

It was a progressive beeping sound, that got louder, not sure where it came from. Didn't hear it again now when I resumed, so maybe it was just the HD powering up last time.
