hi, yesterday i Received my First Mac a MBA 13.

having Used it the first day I absolutely love it but am a bit convened about one thing...
in the lower right area of the display it looks like you can see some vertical and horizontal lines in the back the displayed frame, especially noticeable on dark colors. difficult to describe as a non native speaker.
it somehow looks a bit unclear like if the pixels are a bit separated.

it's just the lower right, all other areas this is not noticeable.

normal? should I send the MBA in? ordered by online store and no apple stores around in Germany, what should I do??

thx for any input

chris

Send it in immediately. Call them first, but you have the right to exchange under 14 days in US. I don't how it is in Germany. However, you paid premium price for your laptop and apple owes you a 100% satisfaction. I would call them and talk to them first, though.

I agree, if it's NOT perfect, your best chance to get it swapped for a perfect product is in the first 14 days... if you wait beyond, you could be stuck with it forever. I know the warranty is for a year, and can be lengthened, but that just means replacing the display not a new MBA that's perfect. In addition, you don't want an Apple employee to work on your MBA, as I have gotten them back damaged, missing screws, and completely ruined. I had luckily taken photos in the store with the daily paper to show it wasn't damaged ahead of time...

I noticed the exact same thing on my 13", but it only happened once and it went away after I put it to sleep and woke it up. It happened the second day I had it, and hasn't happened since (ive had it for over a week now)

Is it happening consistently? if it happens again on mine I'm sending it back.

thanks for all the feedback!
checked it again this morning and it really seems to be a display or possibly graphics card issue.

it's the lines shown or slight flickering I described especially noticeable on dark gray background.

funny thing is if you move e. g. a window with dark gray area to somewhere else on the screen the grey is perfectly sharp but not in the lower right.

I also googled for earlier comparable issues on MacBook displays and there seemed to be something related to nvidia graphic. those issues were solved by a driver updated.

should I wait for an update??

on the one hand I don't wanna be without a PC for a week or more but of course I also want a 100% device.

thanks

If you can, return it. The update may solve it, but is not known when will be released and you still have the right to return your product.

Look, this is really simple IMO.

Bought expensive computer from an outstanding company.
Received expensive computer, but it is not functioning perfectly upon opening.
Something is wrong with it.

Return it/exchange it... period.

Do not wait, at all.

My maxed out CTO 13.3 MBA arrived and had the horizontal lines on it as well. Support declared it DOA and had me ship it back (for free) to their Elk Grove location and a new one was ordered for me. Should be here Monday....A week in all from the time I shipped the one back to the time the new one will be here.

I think that's the best option, but if you don't want to return it, you could try a Genius Bar appointment.

thanks again to all posters!
i called the apple care line in germany today and explained.

after a nice 25min wait charged at ,14 cents the minute i had a friendly guy helping me.

case is logged and even he proposed an immediate exchange via the sales team on monday.

this really puts a somewhat bad light on my first mac experiences as i leave to the mideast for a longer stay next saturday.
i guess they won't be able to do the exchange until then as i expect to first send my mba in before receiving replacement !? and it is a bto "ultimate" configuration...

oh well, really thinking of just getting my money back and sticking with my windows machine for the mideast duration :-(

anyone with experiences on exchange speed?

greatly appreciated !!
