First Picture Submission.

Just got a Canon Rebel XTi, with basic 18-55 lens.

Been playing around a bit today..thought this pic was kinda interesting.

This is my first "real" camera coming from a Sony DSC-P5 point and shoot.

Any advice, suggestions on what to shoot, how, inexpensive books/resources, etc would be appreciated.

Critique if you wish, but remember this is one of my first shots (still using auto).

I like it. Me eyes were drawn to the subject's wing first (mosquito?) but the colorful background blur has a pleasing effect, the only suggestion I have would be to make sure there is no sensor noise or artefacts in the screening, maybe even make it a more solid dark color as the points of intersection on the screen are a distraction imop.

Good start. Advice? Can't tell you what to shoot... just whatever interests you...

Shoot lots of pictures, and relate the results immediately back to the scene as you originally saw it. Start the learning process... but don't expect to know it all in a day, or a week, or a year...

Hint: it's all about light...
