I have owned my macbook for over a year now, and have just been hit with my first problem. It has been acting very slow as of late. All programs seemed very "laggy", with grey beachballs on the bottom left of the windows. I have done the Disk Verify things, and i am downloading onyx as we speak.

Whats next if onxy doesnt work? I it really necessary to call apple?

I dont have have apple care, and it has been over a year, so where does that leave me? can i still buy it?

thanks

Reinstalling OS X would be a last resort. I would run Onyx to clean up caches and get everything tidied up. Have you installed alot of applications that manipulate the OS especially at startup, these can be detrimental immediately & over a period of time. Check the Login Item's to see what is being loaded at startup. Empty font caches & repair fonts if needed.

There are many things to check before you ever would begin to consider the reinstallation of the OS.
