Hi All!

First problem I've had with the default machine is that Google Meet with 10 people doesn't work at all (extremely jittery and stop-go) with Safari. Perhaps this is well-known already.

Same meeting works brilliant with late-2013 quad-core i5 in OS Catalina within Chrome.

Unusable.

Total ****.

Any advice? Install Chrome?

I desperately wanted to get away from Chrome and use Safari but 3 things held me back.

1.) The "this web page is using significant memory" always popping up along the top when watching Youtube videos

2.) The pinch to zoom is terrible

3.) It doesn't show the time you visiting each website in your history

As much as i hate Google, Chrome just works great.

I was desperately hoping this was removed in Big Sur. As a glimmer of hope that one day it will be removed from my version.

It's currently over my other tab right now. Machine is performing fine despite this, somehow...

2) have never used pinch to zoom on webpage. Two fingers tap all day long.
3) Screen Time.

Bonus point: it respect your privacy and not tracked by Google, which is priceless.

The Chrome version I selected was for Apple and its as flawless. I guess that I shouldn't be stunned that Google Meet doesn't work on Safari.

It also happens with a M1 Mac? Pity. I hoped it would stop now. This ugly message is an embarrassment for me when playing online rapid chess, distracts my concentration and slightly moves the board... One of the most useless Safari features IMO.
OK, I obviously will still need a non-Safari browser (Edge, Brave, ...) within M1 for some special cases...

I haven't received that on my machine and I tend to watch/listen to quite a few documentaries on YT.

I never used Safari before on any of my Macs.

I use Firefox first, Brave second, Safari third, Edge fourth. I don't have Chrome installed so I would have to install it to use it. I sometimes also use Seamonkey, usually for a different set of credentials (I have multiple Gmail accounts).
