Hello there

What are the first things to do when you received your new iPhone?

Do you spend time checking screen colors, bezels uniformity, look for defect, color uniformity, built quality etc?

What else would you recommend to make sure everything is OK?

I’m looking for a checklist or any tips on the outside of the iPhone and the software (test phone call, wifi speed, camera…)

now i see it

It’s important to not over do it when getting a new phone. Using it more than you’re used to can lead to eyestrain and headaches etc.

I set up the phone by phone-phone transfer then leave it alone for the day to do all its background processing. Eventually I’ll check settings as Apple will turn things on that you had turned off on your other phone.

But that’s it!

My checklist:
1. Open box for new phone.
2. Take off the protective clear covering
3. Transfer data from old phone
4. Erase old phone
5. Package old phone for return, if appropriate
6. Start using new phone

is it better to transfer all of your old data to the new phone or transfer to computer and then use the new phone as brand new everything fresh

I agree with @now i see it - setting up “as new” is a huge waste of time. My current iPhone 15 Pro had all its data transferred from my 12 Pro… which way transferred from my X… prior to that my 7 Plus, etc. all the way back to my original 3G.

If someone just wants to spend that time, fine - how anyone wastes their time is up to them. But it is in no way “better.”
