Hey guys. There are threads on this but I really haven't seen a clear cut answer... so here I am.

After so long, I reached out and bought an iPhone from the AT&T store when they had the refurbs up. I couldn't pass it up.

So, currently I have T-Mobile and my month ends on April 4th, and was wondering if you guys could please give me some advice. I think I was a Cingular customer way back in the day, but would be signing up to AT&T new of course.

When signing up, if I want to retain my current cell phone number (the one on tmobile) and use that on AT&T, am I able to do that by registering through iTunes? or should I just go to the store.

Also, if I register on iTunes, I would assume that there's no Activation fee, or would there be?

and lastly, on all my other phone plans I've been receiving a discount for being a Government employee....... does AT&T grant this as well? I imagine not though for some reason.

Well, that's all for now. Any help would be appreciated!

You can transfer your number to AT&T through iTunes. Just chose Activate one iPhone now. under I am a new AT&T Wireless Customer

Then the next screen will ask if you want to transfer your number to AT&T. Just make sure you have your Account Number.

2. Also, if I register on iTunes, I would assume that there's no Activation fee, or would there be?

There is an activation fee of $36 if you register on iTunes. There is no way to get around it.

I don't know. After you sign up through iTunes go to your AT&T Store and ask them about this and ask them to do that for you.

I called AT&T just before I activated my iPhone on iTunes and they said they would waive the $36 activation fee. I was nice about it and they did it quick and easy.
