Opened up my new iPhone 13 Pro purchased yesterday and noticed upon first power on and initial setup the default country says "China mainland" and had to scroll down to United States. I've never ever seen this before on a new iPhone and am concerned that maybe this was used before by someone else or something? I purchased it from the Apple Store.

No SIM card in the phone, if that triggers that - unsure. Anyone else know why it would do this?

Those are prolly either not fully reset or worse, iPhone shipped from another region. Check if there’s dual SIM card tray. I got an iPad Pro replacement a while ago saying Netherland as default country rather than Australia.

I know it's an old thread... But it also happened to my new Apple Watch Ultra 2 yesterday...
