Hello,
I'm new to the Apple world and recently received a used iphone and need some help getting started.
Doing some comparisons this is most likely a 7 or 8, but no model #'s or any id on it. When I turn it on, after asking my language and country, it immediately requires me to access a wifi network to continue. I don't want to access a network until I know a little more about the state of this device. I was hoping to look at configuration details and see what may already be installed before connecting it to anything.

Is there a way to do this? Thanks for any help.
Jamie

If it's starting fresh like that then it just has iOS installed and nothing extra.

To activate you would need to use either WiFi, mobile connection, or iTunes: https://support.apple.com/en-us/HT202033

You can find out more about iOS in general at https://support.apple.com/guide/iphone/welcome/ios

Ok that helps. I mainly want to ensure there isn't any malware already installed. Is there a way to force a factory reset, just to make sure?

If you bought it it’s clean , you would not even be able to access the phone if it wasn’t , by find my iPhone it has to be completely reset and not attached to anyones account , apple resets it back to default ,they are on top of these things that’s why people trust apple products it’s secure.

My local wifi network requires statically entering IP information. I can enter the ip address, mask, and default router, but the 'save' button is grayed out. Also, it doesn't ask for dns information.

Searching hasn't resulted in any answers. I'm thinking this may be as simple as not hitting the right button (took me awhile just to figure out the home button).
Any additional help appreciated.
EDIT: Started config over again and got past it. Can't seem to delete this post.
DOUBLE EDIT: It Works. Yea!! Thanks for the quick replies to my q's.
