First post here. I will say in advance what a great informative community you all have here! Been lurking here for a few weeks now, thank you for the excellent info!
Kind of excited, I was debating on getting a new 2012 mini with the fusion drive, but just could not justify the costs. I'm a long time PC user (20 years +), well since the Internet was first discovered using dial up,
So instead I thought I got a good deal on ebay.
Just purchased a MC815LL/A (July, 2011) Mac mini. The owner upgraded the ram to 8 gigs and he replaced the 500 gig stock hard drive with a 120gb OWC Electra 6G SDD drive. He stuck the original drive in a USB case for external backup. Plus I got the external DVD drive as well.
Won't be as fast as the new mini with the fusion, but I think it'll work for a first time mac user. I was wanting to get more storage capacity and was thinking about installing a 1 tb hard drive inside with the SSD drive? If I make the full switch from pc to Mac, I have almost 3 tb of data to move over...
Should I go this route? Or just buy an FireWire external drive? For some reason it's driving me nuts to only have 120 gig internal capacity...
