hi guys trying to do a bit of research on the internet and the web, does anyone know the first time steve jobs mentions the web in any of his keynotes, i know he left apple and then came back so maybe it was getting big during his absence.
and also interested to know when you guys first became aware of it and used it?
where you already apple fans before the web? how did apple first use it?
I was a bit of a late starter myself but now consider myself a bit of an apple fanboy:D:D but want to here from the old timers about how they first got into apple and then the web or vice versa???

The web was already starting to get popular when Jobs first returned to Apple, so I'm guessing he was talking about it as soon as he came back.

Remember, one of his first projects was the iMac (or as it was known at the time, Internet Mac!).

As far as Apple and the web, it probably wasn't the first thing to use it, but Cyberdog was a very early effort made by Apple to make Macs internet friendly (back in OS 7).

found an interesting interview http://www.aether.com/archives/steve_jobs.html
it was 1996 when he was with NeXT it's quite long but the two bit's i picked up on were "The Web is not going to change the world, certainly not in the next 10 years" says steve.
then he was asked "If you go back five years, the Web was hardly on anybody's horizon. Maybe even three years ago, it wasn't really being taken seriously by many people. Why is the sudden rise of the Web so surprising?"

answer by steve "Isn't it great? That's exactly what's not happening in the desktop market."
wasn't that the year he went back to apple??

Having read that interview, Jobs did make some good points.

What if Microsoft had dominated the Web? Everyone would have to follow their standards.

He predicted the fall of the desktop pretty early...it has started to take effect for the last couple of years (I guess?).

Very good interview.
