I'm new to vector drawings, so just wondering what people thought of this. I was going for a less detailed drawing, simple, and I was originally inspired by the movie The Waking Life. Just wondering if anyone had any tips since I'm pretty new.

wow, that's good for your first!
I concur. It looks great. If that is indeed your first, you've mastered the concept of vector art creation, which is usually a tough one to grasp initially.

Great work!

Yeah, I've been working with vector art on and off for a while now, but mostly with logos or web design graphics. This was my first more challenging and realistic drawing with vectors. So thanks.

I agree, that is very impressive for your first attempt. Even if it was not your first try I would say it looks good. Only thing I notice immediately is a slight misalignment where the collar meets the neck on both sides.

Looks awesome! :) I've always wanted to get into vector drawing. Great job! :)

Holy crap
Nice job :)
Wish I was that good at freehand vector artwork like that.
I can do logos...mainly simplistic ones. LOL
Very nice job

What's left to say, impressive! Did you use a reference picture, or is this straight from your hands? None the less, I think it's very good! Everytime I try to make some vector art I just don't seem to get it finished, maybe when I got some more time :)

Yeah, I noticed that from the beginning. I originally wanted things to be a little misaligned all over. Unfortunately, I think it ended up only being around the collar. I'll probably fix that.

Thanks. To be honest, it's not all that hard. If you know how to use the pen tool well, all it really takes is a whole lot of patience.

Yeah I used a reference picture. I know what you mean about starting and never getting finished though. I originally started on another picture, but I was trying to be a little too complex for my first one, so it was taking a whole lot longer, and I didn't have the patience. So I stopped that one and started doing this one. I may still work a little more on it, but overall, I'm happy with this one.

I like it. Very nice job. How long did this take you to do?

Thanks. Umm... I don't remember exactly. I worked on it off and on for two weeks or so. I honestly have no idea on an amount of total hours. Probably less than 10. It really wasn't as time consuming as a lot of other vector drawing you see out there since I kept it more simple and used solid colors instead of a whole ton of different shades. I wasn't going for incredible realism, which worked out well for my general lack of patience and creative ADD.

Pretty good :) I think if you lower the right shoulder a bit and round off the left then it would look even better. Ive only started learning to vector aswell in the past week.

That's awesome. I reckon you used Photoshop?

Illustrator actually. I tried using Photoshop for some vector stuff, but I'm more comfortable working with vectors in Illustrator.

Pen tool skill? I've got that.
Patience on the other hand?...:D

I learned the pen tool on recommendation from a former coworker; she said when she was in school, they had to trace the alphabet with only the pen tool, using as few points as possible. I tried that and learned it rather quickly. I'll never look at some letters the same again though. :p
