Supposedly iPhone matters received a video that has claimed to be the first video taken with an iPhone. The quality is pretty crappy but I guess the movie could have been compressed. I thought the iPhone didn't have video capabilities...maybe Steve forgot to mention it.

there is now way that is real. Look how perfectly he is holding it...Also, there is no way they are a) in stores yet and b) an employee would be so stupid. PLUS, you don't even see if its a real employee, he's just wearing the same colour shirt.

most people assume (and i think rightfully so) that the final product iPhone will have video capabiliites.

EDIT: as far as that video goes... doesn't look real to me. the "What are you doing?!" seems pretty cliche... and don't all Apple Store employees wear name tag necklace things?

You're right about the line - it sounds really fake.

Apple Store employees sometimes wear name tags, but not always.

The fakest thing about this is the idea that a) Apple Store employees got their hands on an iPhone, b) they're freely carrying it around the store.

This is just dumb, even if an iPhone was out in the wild, and it could take videos. There is no reason it would be at an Apple Store. This is clearly fake. As fake as my old Newton here with a 'camera'. :p

But, if you blur something enough and shake the camera around a bit somebody out there is sure to believe it.

Mobile phones can typically take videos. I would be surprised if the iPhone DIDN'T.

ditto that. i think capturing video is a pretty standard function on any cell phone with a camera function nowadays.

more evidence that it's fake:

check out this screenshot. The shot is at an angle, but the image of the iPhone on the iMac screen seems perfectly vertical. see what i'm saying?

regardless, we'll all be playing with iPhones in about a month :)

So freakin' fake... Some people are so horrible at faking things these days. The "what are you doing?" doesn't even sound like it's part of the video. It sounds like someone applied a voiceover in post production.

hahaha that is just a movie that they had playing in iMovie while he was taking video with a some other camera phone...im surprised no one caught that yet.

The 'What are you doing?' line sounds way to crisp, all of a sudden there's this crisp, clean voice asking a question.

Fake.

Who cares? lets just hope Apple doesn't drop "essential" features like video recording from their phone.

thats the best look the video provides and it looks fake

An iMac iSight camera would have reversed the picture; the Apple logo would be reversed.

He was probably playing back a video in iMovie.

Fake.

Also, see comments in the thread. The "Hey, what are you doing?" is higher quality than the rest of the audio, for example.

its a digital camera to me it looks like a canon SD series. Also the lens on that iphone is in the center.... The lens on the iphone is on the top right/left (depending on how you look at it)...

First, he'd probably open up Photobooth if he was in a hurry. I know that it doesn't record videos, but it'd show us 'proof'. Also, isn't that a watch on his right arm? It's not there in the iMovie app.
