Hey guys! Just wanted to ask what I should do. I have the 2G iPhone and the screen is cracked but still responsive. It looks like Spiderman shot a web on it. I was planning on getting it replaced ($130) and then selling it on eBay after unlocking it when the rumored new iPhone comes out. Sound good? Anyone else know of a place that repairs the screen cheaper than that? I was thinking about buying a whole digitizer set and getting someone to swap it out or something.

Check Craiglist, but good luck. Many repair shops won't touch the insides of a 2G and only offer 3G repairs, but you might find someone.

Is it worth it though? I'm thinking yes since spend $150 to get $200-$300 for unlocked/jailbroken 2G iPhone. Just bouncing ideas off since I'm relatively noob. ;)

I'm not too familiar with the who unlocked thing with the baseband. I know how to unlock, and I know you need BB 2.28.00, but I'm not sure if 2.30.00 is only for 3G's, cause if they are only for 3G, you can take it to Apple, have them fix it ($200, and they'll wipe the software with the latest upate), and re-JB and unlock, but thats only to say the BB wont be upgraded on the 2G.

If you can find a store that can do it for cheaper, that's your choice, but it's still a risk. I'd go to one that lets you wait so you wont have too many worries.

I ended up selling my cracked one, and by selling a few other things, bought a new unlocked 2G (since I couldnt find an unlocked 3G at a reasonable price).
