So I've seen many postings online about people reapplying (correctly) the thermal paste in their macbooks for wonderful results.

Can an apple store perform this service?

Can I outsource it?

Is it a dificult procedure?

thanks,

You can fight with the apple store and tell them its running way to hot and you want it reapplied, I'm sure they will do it.

Have you done the latest update? macbook pro users say the firmware update is cooling the system better and the whine stopped ;) give it a try... (was released today, firmware update was anyways..)

keep us updated on your status in this thread ;) I would like to know if this fixes your problem.

Did you check for security updates?? make sure you have the ones released a few days ago installed.. was a large update for a few mac apps and security

and....... i still hear it.

when i ran the updater at that link and "updated", it said that version 1.0 was successful.

-but i thought we were past version 1.0!?

This was a fix I think.. Not 100% sure. I would give apple livechat a try or take your system to an apple store so they can fix it. Show them the sound and I'm sure they will fix the issue.

The fix lowers temperatures a little by forcing the fans on earlier but my MacBook Pro still whines.
