Well, it's already DP7 and the trackpad gestures still fail from time to time for me (see also https://forums.macrumors.com/threads/1765701/ for evidence in previous betas about this issue). It can very well happen for a subset of the gestures to stop working (e.g. swiping up/down with 4 fingers to bring up app expose/windows focus for selected app, although 4 finger swipe left/right works fine ...).

GOOD NEWS: I accidentally found a solution for the unresponsive trackpad gestured while on DP6 (which also works in the 7th iteration) WITHOUT having to log out! All you need to do is to bring up the launchpad and pretend that you move one app over another one so as to create a folder. This magically unfreezes all the 'freezed' gestures on your trackpad. It's incredibly random, but it works like a charm :).

Just to follow up on this - not sure if I am the only one experiencing this issue - but I discovered a path that blocks the 4-finger swipe up/down gesture.

So as above, if this particular gesture is unresponsive I can just create a folder in 'Lanchpad' (or just pretend to) and the gesture gets up and running again.

However, if the gesture is working and I go to Launchpad and gently move any icon a few pixels away from its position, the 4-finger swipe up/down freezes instantly. I can unfreeze it as described above.

Can anyone replicate this particular behaviour? Thanks.

I can't image how you figured this out, but it definitely works.:D

Same thing happens to me that you wrote in your second post. Strange.

Also having this issue

Yep. I don't use Launchpad so the suggested fix seems a little odd to me. I'll try shutting down and restarting to see if it fixes the problem.

I wonder if Apple monitors these forums for bug discovery?

restart doesn't work

Also tried creating a folder in launchpad and gave up. Not intuitive to create a folder. I would have expected right clicking somewhere would have given this option but no dice.

This is not mission critical so i'll just wait for the next release when I'm sure this will be fixed.
