3 days ago I used every forum and major search engine known to man and couldn't find a fix for the wifi issues in Yosemite. Spent probably 6 hours that day trying different things with no success. Then I gave up and went out of town with family.

I just got back and was wondering if there was a universal fix out now or should I just not waste my time looking for one?

I'm guessing since there is no update notification yet that Apple has yet to even acknowledge there is an issue?

Macbook Pro 15" Retina (2013)

Thanks!

I guess the sound of crickets answers that question.

What happened to Apple & software lately? I'm at a loss with ios 8 and this new Yosemite bug machine. I'm having windows vista flashbacks....

You can re-install Mavericks while Apple fix it. You won't see any update notification until there is an update available, even if/when they accept it as an issue they will still ned to identify a resolution, code and test it....

OS's don't get coded overnight by two guys in a garage anymore....

I know - but not having wifi on something that doesn't even have an ethernet input is a pretty big deal. We have 30-35 iMacs / Macbook Pro's at my work that all got upgraded to Yosemite.

Guess how many of those machines had consistently working wifi after upgrading? None.

Our tech guy had to spend a day or 2 reverting everything back to Mavericks - I can't tell you how much money the company lost in productivity. Everything is working fine now that the machines have Mavericks.

However, this is my personal laptop - and I was out of town when he did the switch so I will either have to wait it out or figure out how to get Mavericks back on my laptop.

I switched to Apple a year or so ago - and was glad when I did. But right now I'm not loving life. Even the iOS 8 thing was a complete failure (8.0.1? come on). I hope they get their software department back to how it was, or I don't know how long I can stand this.

Then your tech guy should frankly have known better, you NEVER roll out a change such as that network wide, for that user-base I would have run it on a test machine for a week, then on 2-3 user machines and only then considered rolling it out wider, then in phases so you can't get into exactly that situation (well not without a lot more stupidity)

My thoughts exactly.

Ok the tech guy was incompetent - that's another discussion. I don't know the do's and dont's of being a tech guy. But I know whether my wifi is working or not.

Tech guy aside - the fact that nearly 100% of the Yosemite machines had wifi problems was pretty astounding - which was my whole point in the last post. The wifi issue wasn't isolated to the office router either - otherwise I would have ruled out a bad wireless set up in the office.

I to don't suffer from any WiFi issues.

I have...

1. Clean Install of Yosemite only

2. An Apple AirPort Extreme current edition

3. Used a Good faster DNS Server

4. Found a faster WiFi channel

5. Set my WiFi location from Auto to my current city

6. In "Preferred Network" I deleted my slow WiFi to 5 Ghz only

I also did a clean install of Yosemite. And wasn't having any wifi related problems. Until this week. Now, my computer can't find anything else on the network. So, no, clean install isn't the resolution to all problems and just because you aren't having wifi problems now, doesn't mean you won't.

Since the 16th release date no issues. So you are mistaken about having issues later with a clean install. It would have appeared by now. There is some other issues that you guys are over looking. If I have no issues, you should not. Bad router, modem, lousy clean install that is not really clean, hardware issues, DNS server, WiFi channel being used, and the list goes on.

My thought and what I have done is simply going backing to Mavericks before 10.10.1 rolls out, if it actually fixes the issue.

Some functions in Yosemite are seriously broken for some people. Wifi, Bluetooth... were so broken that I figured it saved me more time to roll back than fixing things around so I could keep using my laptop. I started using OSX since Tiger, and I can't recall a similar scene like this after sys upgrade. Apple, you really disappointed me with 10.10.

Clean install does not help everyone. I'm still suffering from wi-fi issues, even after doing a clean install of Yosemite.
