hello all..new to forum, and need some advice. i have a basic imac g3- 500 mhz purple case, slot loaded that needs a new hard drive. the old drive is a maxtor 20gb D540X-4K. this thing hasn't missed a beat in 7 years, and does all i need. is it worthwhile to fix? if so, what do you suggest as to brand names, etc?

I say if it works, still does what you need it to do, and the upgrade cost isn't material than upgrade! My Mom currently is using a Apple iMac G3/500 DV SE and is running the last version of Tiger quite nicely (all though not blazingly fast by most standards)

From the stats from everymac.com it looks like you need an Ultra ATA drive that is 128GB max. There are tons of places to get drives like this out there, depending on where you're from I'd try to shop around to get a decent price, but I don't think a drive like that will cost you over $175.
