(fixed it)

I can not get my raid0 lacie little big disk to boot my 2012 mini. I will troubleshoot this and report back.

Still working on this.

But here are the 64 bit and 32 bit geek bench scores. stock hdd and stock ram very nice scores.

I ordered this ram.

I erased my t-bolt seagate drive .

updated my new 2012 internal hdd from online software update the 10.8.2 update then cloned it to the external t-bolt seagate adapter. that booted.

I then migrated my lacie raid0 to the internal 2012 and to the external seagate they both boot. as of right now my lacie does not boot. I figure it is due to the fact that it is a 2011 mountain lion build not a 2012 ml build. Tomorrow I will make a new lacie raid0 with a pair of 512gb ssds. I will clone my internal to it and try booting it. well at least I got the seagate adapter to boot. so booting from t-bolt still works in non raid setups.

I have used my lacie lbd since feb in a raid0 as the boot drive for my 2011 mac mini. it was loaded with lion it booted my 2011 mac mini fine. I upgraded it to mountain lion a while back all on my 2011 mac mini.

So the mountain lion installed on my lacie little big disk is a 2011 mac mini mountain lion build. It does not boot the 2012 mac mini. kind of makes sense since the 2011 mini has a dual core sandy bridge cpu and my 2012 has a quad core ivy bridge cpu. I have a lot of t-bolt gear and today I will build a lacie little big disk with the 2012 mac mini osx. Since I built A seagate thunderbolt adapter 1 drive osx yesterday with a 2012 mac mini osx and that boots I am hopeful that the lacie lbd I build today will boot.

okay I just built a 1tb raid0 ssd with a lacie little big disk. I will clone my internal 2012 disk to it.

okay clone is complete it boots and i now have a 1tb raid0 ssd external booter.

I am using the internal as the backup. Just waiting on the ram to arrive.

fast very fast this tiny little machine approaches my 2010 mac pro after i modded it to a hex core machine. the hex benched 15000

it is faster then my 2010 mac pro when it had a 2.8 quad core. the mac pro core benched 10000.

Still apple just does not want a fast computer with fast graphics in the hands of its users.

the mini gpu is good in a lot of tasks. just not all tasks.

i will have to keep a pc on hand and run my minis with fusion vm ware oh well

here is the xbench disk speed test pretty good

410 mb write

311 mb read

87mb 4k random write

16 mb 4k random read

this lacie has sata II toshiba ssds purchased from owc last month they blew them out at 279 for a 512gb ssd I grabbed 2 cost 558. I grabbed a lacie little big disk refubished from mac mall for 210.

http://www.macmall.com/p/LaCie-Hard-Drives/product~dpno~9105214~pdp.hcjeaji

I pulled the hdds and sold them on ebay for 100

so the case cost me 110 plus the 558 for the 2 toshiba ssds is 668 plus 50 for a cable.

total cost of 718 for a 1tb ssd very nice.

lacies 1tb version is 999 plus 50 for the cable or 1049

lacies 512gb version is 699 plus 50 for the cable or 749

http://www.lacie.com/products/product.htm?id=10549

to be fair to lacie they have a longer warranty and are a bit faster then my diy.

to be fair to me

my 512gb version would cost 440 vs 749

my 1tb version is 718 vs 1049.

All booting issues seem to be fixed.
