My WiFi signal was very weak when i first got my iPad. I was also having the issue where it would not reconnect to know access points. I think methods like this have been posted elsewhere, but perhaps this will help a few.
-I first hard reset my ipad. (hold home+sleep until it shuts off)
-then in settings>general>reset
select "reset network settings"
your ipad will now restart, and wifi whoas will hopefully be gone!
Where i once had no bars, i now have three! My iPad is also reconnecting on un-lock just fine now. Hope this helps
