hey all, the trackpad on my MacBook Pro is popping out on the bottom right. Has anyone (ibook/Powerbook/MacBookPro) had any experience with fixing a trackpad before? thanks

if its just raised slightly, i wouldn't worry as my gf's mbp has the same issue and it only effects asthetics. If its popped right out, i'd take it in to apple to be fixed, as doing anything yourself might void your warrenty
oh i do worry though cause
1) i like when things are pleasing to look at
2) a $2000+ machine with a trackpad popping out? come on...

i understand your concern, for the amount you paid greater quality control should be employed, unfortunately, the macbook pros seem to have slipped through the nets (maybe in the rush to get them on the shelves?) and so we have such issues.
My girlfiends mbp also has a keyboard that isn't level and a wonky screen!
its not right, its like buying designer clothes whose stitching is wrong.
My advice would be that if you are that unhappy, try to get a new one, although then you risk getting one with more serious problems (heat/whine etc).

if u mean by wonky screen that when u close the lid it doesnt match up evenly, i prefer that, so some heat can escape from there.
on the right of my keyboard some of my keys are wonky to, not that annoyed since they work, but still it you want it to be perfect
if i was to repair this trackpad in the near future, would my 1 year warranty cover it? same with the keyboard?

Well, MacBooks were released January 2006, so a 1-year warranty should still cover it. And you really shouldn't fix it yourself, because opening up the case might void your warranty, making you ineligible for warranty service in the chance that more problems come up.

I suppose, but I really think you should send it in as soon as possible. It sounds like you have a pretty serious problem...considering.
I had this problem after taking apart my PowerBook to fix a problem with the optical drive. I knew it was my fault having put something together wrong. Opening it back up revealed that a cable was routed the wrong way, and was putting a lot of pressure on the trackpad, causing it to bulge up and eventually pop-up. There could be a similar problem with your MBP. Of course, since your machine is new and still under warranty, I wouldn't recommend taking it apart yourself. You should take it to Apple and have them fix it.
