Hey all,

I have a PC hardwired into a wireless router and my PB on a wireless connection from the router. Yesterday my signal strength on my PB kept oscillating between zero and full strength. It kept dropping the connection and would then pick it back up again. I confirmed the same problem on another person's iBook. I went in and checked out the router, and the WAN, WLAN, and active port lights were all acting sporadic, as if the router were continually resetting itself. I then hopped on the PC (hardwired through the router) and began browsing. It too was acting flakey on the internet, loading partial pages, being slow and what not. I disconnected the router and used the PC with just the modem, all was fine.

SO, does this mean my router has taken a dump? Has it overheated? I unplugged it for a few minutes, reset the firmware, and tried again, no luck. What do you guys make of this?

Thanks for the help all, and Happy Thanksgiving to my fellow Americans.
And to all of the non-Americans, Happy Thrusday :D

It sounds like a router on it's last leg. I had the same symptoms with my router two or three weeks ago. I know it's frustrating but you took the right steps to isolate the problem.

Probably tomorrow is the perfect day to get a new router at a larger retail store. Maybe you can pick up an airport express for a decent price.

Well, I guess I'll head over to my neighborhood Apple store today and check the after-thanksgiving prices on Airport base stations.

Thanks for the help guys.
