Last Friday night, I dropped my iPhone 6 for the umpteenth time, no more cosmetic damage than the scarcely seeable crack it incurred months ago. Sometime thereafter, however, the touchscreen started to act wonky. Most of the time, coming out of a lock screen, the touchscreen is unresponsive to my swipes. Other times, while it is lying idle on my counter, it may open an application. Every phone call is fated to an abrupt hangup even though I have not touched the phone during the call.

I have reached out to Apple numerous times and I have an appointment at the Genius Bar this Saturday. Originally, in spite of dropping the phone, I diagnosed this as a software problem. Now having done a factory reset, not once but twice, I fear it is a hardware problem as a consequence of the trauma of the fall.

What led me to believe it was software issue (and something I cannot wrap my mind around) is that it seemingly functions well at times and the touchscreen is precise as always. These fleeting moments of normal function occur at predicted times -- such as after a hard reboot. I don't know why this is?

Anybody else experience such a problem?

Thanks!
Dan

Thanks for the response! I hope they can save my phone but I have my reservations about sinking money into an old (relatively speaking) device by paying $129 to replace the screen. Still, I may go that route.

Considering it as a hardware issue, I cannot fathom why the pervading expanses of time where my phone does not work are interspersed with moments where it functions perfectly?
