Hi All!

Please help. I have installed Yosemite but no BBC videos play. They all ask me to install Flash, which I have, to no effect.

Below is a screenshot. On the left, the BBC website prompting me to install Flash, and on the right, my System Preferences pane clearly saying Flash 15 is installed.

Check Safari > Preferences > Security > Allow Plug-ins

If its checked, click "Website Settings".

Find Flash and see if it is being allowed (of not) for the website.

I could have sworn the BBC said ages ago that they were moving away from Flash. Either way, it still seems nuts that I can go to the BBC site from my iPhone or iPad and watch videos quite happily - I'm assuming it defaults to HTML5 - but on the Mac I'm still stuck with a message saying "You must install this horrid piece of software before we will allow you to watch this video". I'm sure OS X Safari must support HTML 5 playback.

I've started changing the User Agent of the browser tab if there's a video I need to watch. Won't install Flash. If there's something that absolutely, definitely has to be Flash it's why I keep Chrome around.

I think the BBC uses flash on desktop systems for DRM reasons.

Having said that, they may now change as Netflix are using DRM and HTML5 now.
