So, watching an episode of Chuck tonight (Nov. 19) and saw a local car dealer (Freedom Dodge, Lexington, Ky) pitching a free iPhone with purchase of a car, yada yada.

Anyway, something interesting - I haven't seen before, nor can I find reference to it on the web yet - the image of the iPhone they are using has a flash icon on the home page of the phone and what appears to be a stand-alone flash player. I took a photo of the tv (with my iPhone, of course). I'll try to attach the two photos (not done this before here)

honestly, as happy as that makes me, I know that often people use stock images downloaded from who knows where for ads and marketing.

hate to burst your bubble but if I was making an ad with an iphone in it I would intentionally put in an icon for some future app just to generate buzz. flash, gps, mms, etc.

...it did get you to post about it

Could be - but I think that's giving them too much credit. The ads typically produced locally here are so terrible I wouldn't have thought someone would have thought of that. :)

The image would most likely show-up in a Google search I bet. That could have been where they got it and knowing how car dealers don't spend anything for creative, I be it was their marketing manager that threw it together in powerpoint.

edit: oops! this was a tv spot.... well then it was the marketing manager's 13 year old son putting it together in Disney Video Studio. ;)
