Flash MX Trial question

I have been using the Flash MX demo (in OSX.2.3) to play around and create with. It has that nifty little program that tells you how many days you have left in your trial version. Which is nice.

Well, I had seven days left and I had a project that I was working on and I knew that I would not be able to finish it in seven day (because of some other real projects that need to get done for work and the fact that I was going out of town for three days.) So, the short of it is I changed the date back two days to see if it would extend the trial and guess what, it automatically expired the demo! What is up with that?!? Poof! No more seven days left!

Does anyone know how to restore the demo to the seven days or reinitialize the demo so I can have the 30 days again? I plan to buy Flash, but right now the moola is kind of tight (and I don't want to get a copy via one of the many P2P programs.)

Can anyone shed any light?

(Will deleting the program and all the prefs work, I know that there are hidden files in UNIX that are hard to find and access to remove.)

I think that if you delete all Flash files (prefs, application support data both in the system, normal and user library etc) you can install the demo again.

If that doesn't work, you might try doing a search for files that have the same modification date/time when you installed flash, perhaps it leaves a file somewhere.

Well, you lost your days because it thought you were trying to steal the program (by extending the 'trial' period). You likely cannot restore or even reinstall it without completely wiping your drive (because there is likely an invisible file hidden on it now that knows you had the software and for how long).

My friend (no, seriously) has 2 hard drives that he goes back and forth with, wiping his "trial" versions of software and plugins and reinstalling them on the other drive. He says he has to do this every 2 weeks or so. I think it's just crazy and lame, but he seems to have no problem with it (except when something goes completely haywire, which seems to be every once in a while). Way too much hassle for me.

From the terminal you can see all the files - hidden or otherwise, so its just a matter of knowing where it is and removing it.

Flash is such a great product, you might want to seriously think about purchasing the thing - if you're a student you can probably get a better deal as well.

Yep, it's $99 for students. I'm purchasing this week. The Studio MX deal is even sweeter. Dreamweaver, Fireworks, Freehand and Flash for $199. That's a sweet deal.

Slightly off topic: Duke, I'm not going to be using it for any e-commerce sites or anything, so would you still recommend Flash over LiveMotion? Thanks man.
