Hello All -

I recently offered to do a virtual tour for friend of mine who owns a big flashy spa close to us.

I have already shot all the rooms, and now I need to place hyperlinks to those QTVR's on a map like shown below (example purposes only):

shrine-event-floor-design.gif

Basically, when the Web visitor clicks on a specific square for the spa, it will link them through to the url for the QTVR (or better, a popup window) for that specific room.

Now my question is, should what program should I use to draw and imbed the links? My drawing will not have all the doors and architectural aspects like above, just colored shapes for each room.

Ideally, I would like the room to "pop up" a little when the user mouses over it -I would assume that will involve Flash.

Ideas greatly appreciated. Thanks.

Gary

I would use ImageReady or Fireworks to make an imagemap, then take the code those programs give you and insert javascript popup links in that.

Hope I read what you wanted correctly...

Can you put QTVRs in Flash now? If so, it might be a more fluid presentation to do the whole thing in Flash. Here's a similar thing I did in flash with images only... but if you imagine the QTVRs coming up where the images are, it could be very nice.

(Click on model letters to see floorplans)

I would draw the floorplans in Illustrator, and import into Flash.

Even if you do skoker's method, Illustrator is recommended, then bring it into Pshop or Fireworks to export it for web. Put your image maps in in Dreamweaver, or even Fireworks, but that's annoying. Dreamweaver has built-in snippets for pop-ups.

Awesome - yeah, I am a real idiot in Flash, but I like that idea a lot. The reason I took this project was because I wanted kind of a centerpiece. Thanks for the link. :D

Imagemapping is simple, will take 5 - 10 minutes, tops, works with any web displayable image, and does not rely on Flash plug ins.

If you have Dreamweaver, you can do it right in there.

Or if the areas lend themselves to a rectilinear grid, you can slice the images in Imageready and use a traditional rollover script to substitute another image -- maybe even a still from the QTVR instead of just highlighting the room.

Can you post the real layout, so that we can see if the image is manipulateable?

You mean something like this? :) (Change ext. to .swf to view)

Like others said, you can also to it in fireworks/dreamweaver.

Yeah - but I also want to have a little bubble pop up wiht the room type and description. OK I know it can be done the way I want - I hope a coupel fo you don't mind if I PM you later.

Going to read my Flash book for now.

Thanks all. :D

I'd do it in fireworks... it'd take 15 minutes and it'd look fine. Popup windows and everything.
