is their any kind of flashbased harddrive options now as we speak. such as a macbook harddrive connector that you just insert a flash card, etc.

I'm trying os x on a 2 gb cruzer disk now and the boot times absolutely suck compared to a normal hd.

thanks in advance.

Umm... no I don't think so. You're stuck with your regular SATA drive for the time being.

Forget the USB stick speed, its not even closely comparable, the stick has to run through USB bandwidth while the hard drive would have much faster connections to your processor/ram/etc. Not to say that flash based hard drives are a good idea yet, but eventually they will be

Flash hard drives are and awesome idea. The price just needs to come down. In the interrum we will start to see hybrid hard drives very soon (normal hard drives with integrated flash memory). There was a news article very recently about Samsung shipping their first hybrid hard drive.

Solid state HDs have such a ridiculous price point, A holographic drive would be a less expensive idea.......ok not really at $75,000 for a drive.:D
